Daisho (Mall @ Alam Sutera, Tangerang)

(Ohayou Gozaimasu! Konnichiwa!)

It has been a while since my last visit to Mall @ Alam Sutera, and I decided to visit this large shopping mall again last week with my parents. Mall @ Alam Sutera can be considered as one of the largest malls in Alam Sutera and the mall got more crowded compared to my last visit here, but it was still spacey and nice. So, it was lunch time and we were confused about what to eat for lunch that day (because there are many selections of restaurant here!), after looking around for a while, I finally decided to try this Japanese Restaurant called Daisho with my parents.

The decoration reflects the concept of the restaurant, which is to serve Japanese Food, so you can expect to see Japanese style decoration in Daisho. The restaurant has two kinds of dining area: outdoor area (smoking area) and indoor area (non-smoking area), I opted to dine at indoor area because it was crazily hot that day. The restaurant was not really crowded that day, I only saw 2-3 tables were occupied by the customers.

Let's get started with the food!

Kakiage-Don (IDR 35k)
Kakiage-Don Set

Kakiage-Don is one of set menus that are served by Daisho, it was served along with 2 slices of watermelon, chawanmushi (Japanese Egg Custard), pickles, miso soup and a bowl of stir-fried bean sprouts. This one is definitely a delicious set menu with affordable price. (I didn't expect it would come in full set like that!) Kakiage is a kind of tempura that is made from various fried vegetables (and sometimes prawn) and the one that they served here was pure vegetable kakiage, there was no prawn or other meat inside the tempura, and it was really delicious, crispy, flavorful and moreish.

The stir-fried bean sprouts was also great, I usually don't like bean sprouts, but this one was an exception, I couldn't stop eating the bean sprouts because it was nicely seasoned, flavorful and delicious. The chawanmushi and miso soup tasted pretty decent for me, and I love how they added 2 slices of watermelon as the dessert to the set!

Mofu Mofu (IDR 59k)
Mofu Mofu Set

The Mofu Mofu set consists of grilled salmon, miso soup, agedashi tofu, pickles, chawanmushi, 2 slices of watermelon and a bowl of steamed white rice. The grilled salmon was pretty delicious, it was nicely seasoned and had minimal amount of fishy smell. The agedashi tofu was nice, it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and it was drenched with sauce that was made of soy sauce and ginger. The steamed white rice was also nice, it's like typical of Japanese rice, sticky and a little bit mushy.

Hokkaido (IDR 34k)

Hokkaido is one of the sushi selections that are served by Daisho, it is a deep-fried sushi topped with mayonnaise sauce and teriyaki sauce. I always love crunchy food and so is this crunchy sushi, the mayonnaise sauce was generously given on the top of each sushi (yay!) and the crabstick filling was also generously given.

Crunchy Spicy Salmon (IDR 45k)

(Another crunchy sushi!)

The Crunchy Spicy Salmon is sushi filled with crunchy flakes, spicy sauce and topped with fresh salmon. The salmon was really fresh and a little bit cold, the moreish crunchy flakes was crispy, flavorful and delicious and the spicy sauce was nice although it was not really spicy.

Overall, I enjoyed my visit to Daisho, the food they served here was delicious and pretty affordable. I was so happy when I heard that my parents also like the foods they served. The service was also friendly, the waiter patiently explained some of their menus to us and even recommended some delicious menus such as Kakiage-Don. I will definitely come back to Daisho to try their other menus and to have their delicious and affordable Kakiage-Don!
