Menya Sakura (Emporium Pluit Mall, Jakarta)

Exterior

Apparently, Menya Sakura Ramen, a ramen shop originated from Japan has opened their second outlet in Indonesia at Emporium Pluit Mall. I have been curious about their ramen since long time ago, but I never get a chance to try it because the first outlet in Indonesia is located far away, so I'm glad to know that they decided to open the new outlet at Emporium Pluit Mall. The restaurant itself is not really hard to find, located just beside Yoshinoya, the crowd will definitely make you notice this restaurant.

The restaurant itself is definitely not big, but it's always packed with people every time I pass through the restaurant, I reckon they can accommodate up to 30 people. The decoration is mostly dominated with wooden things which reflect Japanese restaurant and I could notice that there are several Japanese posters hanging. It was crowded at that time and I have to wait around 10 minutes before I got seated. (It's okay though because I have been curious about their ramen!)

Let's get started with their food!

Tsuke-men (IDR 65k)
Tsuke-men

Tsuke-men is claimed to be the most popular menu on their restaurant at Japan. The ramen and broth was served separately, the noodle was really thick, chewy and elastic. The noodle was served along with super nice soft-boiled egg, chicken meat, bamboo shoot and nori sheet. The broth was made from combination of chicken and fish, the broth was thick and it was super strong. Overall, the ramen tasted pretty decent and it was indeed unique compared to other ramen that I ever had.

Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen (IDR 55k)
Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen

Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen is basically a tonkotsu ramen with spicy broth. The broth was made from combination of fish stock, seafood and chili. I'm not so into the broth, but I love how the noodle was thin, firm and a bit chewy. Not to mention that they served the noodle along with slices of char-siu and sexy soft boiled-egg! I just can't get enough of the super duper delicious soft-boiled egg, it was so perfect!

Fried Chicken Dumpling (IDR 30k)
Fried Chicken Dumpling

I'm so happy to know that they served fried chicken dumpling as side-dish, because every food is better when it's fried! (don't you think so?) The minced chicken inside the dumpling was super nice, it was tender, seasoned perfectly and had soft texture. The dumpling skin was perfect as well, it was crispy and not oily at all.

The Green Tea Ice cream was topped with soybean powder and it was heavenly delicious! The green tea ice flavor was quite strong and the soybean powder definitely made everything better.

This one was supposed to be served along with mochi, soybean powder and red beans, but the mochi was out of stock that day, so they decided to substitute the absence of the mochi by giving more red beans. I didn't get to try this one, but I was told that it was delicious as well.

Food

Overall, it was a nice visit to Menya Sakura, the food they served tasted pretty delicious and the service was okay as well. I believe Menya Sakura will be a strong contender for other ramen shops in Jakarta as they served unique and varied ramen-based dishes. I would love to come back to this place to have another experience of their ramen and the super delicious green tea ice cream!
