Maroush (Crowne Plaza Hotel, Jakarta)

Maroush

Maroush is luxurious Middle-Eastern restaurant located at Crowne Plaza Hotel at Gatot Subroto street. It is not really hard to find the place, once you pass the Plaza Semanggi, keep left and you will find the entrance to the hotel. Oh and I have to tell you beforehand that this post is going to be filled with a lot of photos!

The restaurant is really big and spacious with some of VIP rooms available to be booked. I was mesmerized with their interior and decoration as they mainly use imported furniture from Middle-East. Everything looks really fancy and luxurious that makes you feel like you are in a restaurant at Middle-East (though I've never been there, lol!

Let's get started with their food!

Cold Appetizer
Cold Appetizer Platter

The Cold Appetizer platter consists of Tabolue Salad (upper left), Hummus (upper right), Chakchouka (lower right) and Babaganush (lower left). All of them tasted pretty decent and healthy as most of them are dressed in olive oil.

Salad
Biber Salatasi

Biber Salatasi consists of char grilled fresh red chili, vinegar, chopped garlic, tomato, parsley, mint leaves and olive oil. This one tasted pretty decent and had quite strong flavor and aroma.

Hot Appetizer
Feta Spinach Borek
Chicken Pastilla
Karideshi Peynirli Mantar

All of the hot appetizer tasted pretty delicious but if I have to choose, my favorite would be the Chicken Pastilla which is a sweet and savory Moroccan meat pie filled with chicken. It tasted pretty unique as it had combination of sweet and savory flavor. The Karideshi Peynirli Mantar was super delicious as well, oh maybe I'm just loving all of the hot appetizer! (lol!)

After set of appetizer, let's move on to the main course!

Doner Durum
Doner Durum

Doner Durum is grilled lamb fillet marinated overnight, stuffed in wood-fire oven bread mixed with lettuce, sumac, onion salad and garlic sauce. The lamb meat was tender, flavorful and doesn't have a bad smell at all which was good!

Firindra Ezmeli Balik
Firindra Ezmeli Balik

Firindra Ezmeli Balik is fillet of marinated dory fish pan fried with ezme sauce, sauteed vegetables and cheddar cheese. I love the idea to put the super good cheddar cheese on the top of the fish, it tasted pretty delicious as the meat was soft and nicely seasoned.

Lamb Shank Cous Cous
Lamb Shank Cous Cous

Lamb Shank Cous Cous is wood-fire oven cooked lamb shank served with cous cous rice. I've got to warn you that the portion of this dish was really big, but I've been told by them that in Middle-East itself, one woman can completely devour this whole thing. (what?!) This one tasted pretty good, the lamb meat was tender and nice as well.

Chicken Lemon and Olives
Chicken Lemon and Olives

Chicken Lemon and Olives is chicken pieces braised with spice, garlic, onion, olives and lemon cooked in tagine. This one tasted super delicious and I'm loving the smell from the spices. You know, one thing that I love from Middle-Eastern cuisine is variety of spices used in each dish that makes it even more appetizing!

Feslegenli Patlican Sarmasi
Feslegenli Patlican Sarmasi

Feslegenli Patlican Sarmasi is fried eggplant parcels filled with sauteed vegetables and fresh basil. Not a big fan of eggplant, but I found this one tasted pretty decent thanks to the spices!

Firinda Sutlac
Firinda Sutlac

Firinda Sutlac is wood-fire oven baked creamy cold rice pudding. This one made a great dessert as it was soft, sweet and delicious!
