Let's get started with their food!
Fresh Seafood

Seafood lovers will be spoiled by many selections of fresh seafood such as crayfish, mussels, crabs and clams. Oh, and if you love sashimi and fresh salmon, it's available here as well. I'm not a big fan of seafood as you might already know, but strangely, I could eat the sashimi without any problems!

Fresh Salmon

The noodle corner was pretty good as you can customize your own noodle dish by selecting the type of the noodles, toppings and condiments. I had mine with prawn, spring roll, crackers, perkedel and a little bit of veggies. It tasted pretty decent and I love their perkedel which tasted flavorful and nice. Oh and did you noice the signature "mangkok ayam" that brings up memories? (so nostalgic!)

Noodle
Bread Corner

For bread lovers, you can try many selection of bread available including variants of cheese and butter. If you love Indonesian food, you might want to try these gado-gado which is basically veggies, fried tofu, fried tempeh mixed with sweet peanut sauce.

Gado Gado
Dessert Corner

For sweet tooth, you won't want to miss these pretty dessert corner and I have to say that they had super intriguing and unique dessert. Just look at those coconut-shaped and bamboo-shaped things!

Coconut Mango Pudding

The coconut-shaped dessert was actually a mango pudding, it tasted pretty delicious with a hint of mango flavor topped with jelly. Oh and you can eat those coconut-shaped chocolate as well if you want to.

I couldn't remember the name of the dessert which looks like a bird nest with egg yolk in the middle. But it tasted super amazing and I love how their dessert was not overly sweet, but still manage to satisfy my taste bud!

Overall, I had a good dinner at Rasa Restaurant, the food tasted pretty delicious, the service was nice and the place is great. I guess I have to highlight this one again, but I personally would like to give kudos for the pastry chef as their dessert creation was super unique and tasted super delicious as well. You know that it's not easy to create those unique idea and maintain the consistency, right?

Last but not least, thanks for having me and I wish best of luck for Rasa Restaurant!

Nocturnal (Pantai Indah Kapuk, Jakarta)

by 11:02:00 AM

Nocturnal is coffee, bar and kitchen that server various fusion and international cuisine. It is strategically located across PIK Avenue mall and the exterior is pretty nice and definitely my style. (I love dark colored interior with decent lighting) As the name might suggest, the place perhaps would be better at night time, but I came on day time and it's pretty great as well!

The interior looks pretty nice with dark colored decoration, dim lighting and decent  natural lighting filling the restaurant. Apparently, the best lighting in the restaurant is in the smoking area which was a shame, but thankfully there was no one smoking during my visit. (phew!)

Let's get started with their food, shall we?

Chicken Sambal Matah (IDR 70k)
Chicken Sambal Matah
Chicken Sambal Matah consists of rice served with shredded chicken, sunny side up, green beans, and Balinese sambal matah. I have to admit that this one was beyond my expectation, I didn't expect that they could serve super delicious sambal matah and it can even be compared with the one that I had at Bali. I love how they make the rice super fragrant with a hint of pandan smell.

Nocturnal Sampler (IDR 120k)

Nocturnal Samples consists of aioli salad, spam & fries, potato & cassava, and barbecued chicken wings. One of the best selection of appetizer to be shared among 3-4 people as you can try most of appetizer available in the restaurant. It was served along with three kinds of sauce which was barbecue sauce, teriyaki sauce and sesame sauce. I personally love the fried cassava as it had unique flavor.

Fritters
Baklava

On the sweet section, there's a signature middle-eastern pastry called Baklava, a rich, sweet pastry made of layers of filo filled with chopped nuts and sweetened and held together with syrup or honey. It tasted super sweet and you might want to share one pieces among 2-3 people unless you can stand super sweet food by yourself.

Sweet Pastry

Let's get started with their main menu!

Grilled Taliwang Chicken
Grilled Taliwang Chicken

Grilled Taliwang Chicken is basically grilled chicken with Taliwang spices, it tasted a little bit spicy and had distinct appetizing aroma. Overall, this one tasted pretty delicious and the portion was real huge for 2 people! Maybe you can even share this for 3-4 people in my opinion.

Not a big fan of veggies as you might know already, but I did try this one and it tasted pretty mediocre and still delicious for non-veggies lovers like me!

Snapper Head Curry
Snapper Head Curry

Snapper Head Curry might be the star among those dishes and it tasted super delicious with mild curry flavor. I love as it didn't smells or taste fishy at all and everything was just perfectly blended inside the bowl. The curry itself was super addicting that makes you craving for more!

Guide to 8 Michelin-Starred Street Food in Hong Kong!

by 9:14:00 PM

What's in your mind when you hear about Hong Kong? For me, I instantly think about a hustle and bustle city with a lot of great food and culture. If we are talking about food, I bet most of you have heard about the Michelin starred restaurant, as that means that the restaurant serves great food and it's totally worth to visit. 2. Mammy Pancake (媽咪雞蛋仔)

Egg Waffle is a popular Hong Kong street food snack and apparently this one serves one of the best egg waffle in town. I tried the green tea with red bean one and it tasted pretty decent with good texture. Oh and prepare to queue as the place was always crowded with people.

How Much?
HKD 5-10

Where to Find?
135 Fa Yuen Street, Mong Kok

4. Three Potatoes (叁薯)
Shredded Hash Brown with Sour Cream

Three Potatoes is a humble stall that sells various potato-based snack. I honestly had so much expectation on the shredded hash brown with sour cream but this turned out to be just okay. It's a little bit bland for me and I bet it will taste better with cheese sauce. Oh but the baked potato with cheese tasted pretty delicious!

How Much?
HKD 35-40

Where to Find?
Shop 5, 6/F, 30-32A Nullah Road, Mong Kok

5.  Block 18 Doggie’s Noodle (十八座 狗仔粉)

Honestly, I kind of forget the name of the dish, but I did try the 3 best seller food here. (according to the auntie) All of them tasted pretty delicious with springy noodle and flavorful broth, but it didn't impress me that much..

8. Fat Boy (第三代肥仔)
Octopus

Fat Boy sells various kind of skewered innards and octopus, I honestly didn't try this one because I'm not a big fan of innards and octopus. But according to my friend, this one tasted pretty okay and the mustard has a super strong flavor.

Bonus Features
Oh, and I would like to share another one although it's not Michellin-starred, but honestly who cares about the award when they serve super delicious gooey cheese noodles with pork cheek? (yes, pork cheek!). The restaurant name is Sun Kee Cheese Noodle and it's located at Champagne Court, Kimberley Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong.

Imagine having a bowl of warm cheesy noodle with grilled pork cheek on top of it, this one was seriously a bomb and I don't mind having this as my daily meal. (I'm serious!) It costs around HKD 60 per bowl and it's definitely worth it!

I think that's all that I could share about some of my culinary journey during my last trip to Hong Kong. I have to admit that the city might seem a little bit stressful because the crowd especially on weekend, but that doesn't matter when you can have good food, right? April has been a busy month for me because I traveled to a lot of place and I definitely had a great time despite the tiredness! :)

Last but not least, if you have any queries, don't hesitate to drop me a message and I'll be happy to help! :)

I tried most of the food there, but I personally love the meat section as they were serving various premium meat such as wagyu and pork (non-halal). The wagyu was indescribably delicious with perfect tenderness and I love the crispiness of the pork skin glazed with honey. It's best to eat with the sauteed baby potatoes and vegetables!

Wagyu and Pork

On the Indonesian food section, there were various selection of traditional food but my eye was drawn to those appetizing satay. There are two selection of satay which are the lamb satay and chicken satay. Oh, and you can add the peanut sauce by yourself, so you can adjust it according to your liking!

Satay
On the dessert section, as I came during the Easter Brunch period, there were various cute bunny-shaped dessert and I bet kids will definitely love this one.
