Kamakura (Pantai Indah Kapuk, Jakarta)

Kamakura is a Japanese cafe and restaurant which was located right beside Fat Straw at Pantai Indah Kapuk area. Kamakura is definitely not a new player in F&B scene in Jakarta, but apparently they just launched new menu with huge selection of Japanese main course and dessert. Their specialty food are Japanese-style pasta with a modern twist and Japanese-style soft and fluffy pancake.

The restaurant itself is pretty eye-catching with unique exterior and the interior was beautiful with wooden and blue color dominating the whole scene. The restaurant itself is not really big, but it was nicely spacious and I reckon they could accommodate up to 40 people. It's not really crowded during my visit and I could really feel the Japanese-vibe inside the restaurant.

Let's get started with their food!

Seafood Style Mentaiko Pasta (IDR 108k)
Seafood Style Mentaiko Pasta

Seafood Style Mentaiko Pasta consists of al dente spaghetti topped with salmon roe, prawn, mussels, squid and seaweed. I tried the clear version of their mentaiko pasta, but you can opt for the creamy one with the same price. It tasted unexpectedly delicious with generous amount of seafood and I could really tell the freshness of their ingredients.

Aburi Salmon Don
Aburi Salmon Don

Aburi Salmon Don is basically a rice topped with slices of baked salmon, salmon roe, scallions and shredded nori. It tasted pretty delicious even for non-seafood lover like me, the salmon flavor was mild yet not overwhelming.

Spicy Salmon Roll

Spicy Salmon Roll ought to be my favorite dishes of all as I really love the slightly spicy sauce that drenched the sushi. There's a salmon on the top of the sushi and I could spot crab stick as the filling of the sushi. Oh and can you see those toothpaste-like wasabi packaging? It's so cute!

Kamakura Style Matcha Pancake (IDR 53k)

Kamakura Style Matcha Pancake is one of their specialty dishes and it definitely live up to my expectation. The fluffy matcha pancake was topped with azuki, sweet potato paste and vanilla ice cream. It had a perfect texture and I love the idea to put the sweet potato paste as the topping. Keep in mind that this dish might take up to 20 minutes before it can be served.

Matcha Ice Cube (IDR 38k) / Thai Tea Ice Cube (IDR 38k)
Matcha Ice Cube

(looking for an instagram material? lol!)

These Matcha Ice Cube and Thai Tea Ice Cube was definitely an instagram material as it was prettily shaped and served along with fresh milk. Watching the ice cube melts as you pour the milk is definitely a fun thing to do! Oh and you can adjust the sweetness level by yourself as they serve the syrup separately, I prefer mine to be less sweet though.

Overall, I had a great lunch at Kamakura, the food tasted pretty authentic and delicious, the service was nice and the place was great. It's great to see that they keep innovating because you know, people these days tend to be bored easily and you have to come up with new idea to attract those people. I hope they maintain the consistency of their food and best of luck, Kamakura!
